Subject: JD 840 vs 280 loader for large frame 55/60 series

West Central Nebraska - Sandhills
Trying to find a loader (with a grapple, or can add one later) for either my 4555 or 4960. I know they aren't ideal loader tractors, we have other equipment to do most of loader work, but it would be handy to have a loader on one of these for occasionally moving hay, loading feed wagon, etc when other equipment is tied up. I've been looking for a JD 840 for a while, and they've proven to be difficult to find, but I had heard they are a much better loader than a 280. What's everyone's thoughts on that? Not interested in an offbrand loader, NOT because I don't think they're as good of quality, but more so because I am the type of person who is always thinking of resale value when purchasing or modifying equipment. Love to hear everyone's thoughts on the 840 vs 280, and any leads on one's for sale. TIA!!!
