SW Wisconsin | I put some urea on before starting grazing several years ago, and ultimately decided that once the grass decides to take off there's too much anyway, and urea just speeds that up by maybe a day or two. I'm more interested in stretching growth out over a longer period of the summer.
Rain must have been really patchy: I didn't have a gauge out, but based on what was in buckets I got about 1.5" between 4:30 and 6:30, and then another 0.5" overnight. Definitely greened things up. I have the cows on pasture today for the first time. 3 new bull calves yesterday brings me down to 14 cows left to calve over the next 7 weeks. | |
