| Used to only roll after planting but now have pretty much gone to rolling everything in front of the planter. Biggest reason is because if we roll ahead of the planter we have no problem with corn root balls plugging in the closing wheels. If we don't roll ahead we are stopping several times every pass to unplug closing wheels. Also do not run row cleaners which makes the root ball problem a bigger issue. Also we get way better ride quality on the planter if we roll first. Will say both ways work it's whatever fits your situation best and that can change from one field to another | |
