We've no tilled behind a devastator 4 years now, 20" rows, works fine. 2140 CIH. If I can do it by planting down the center, works sweet, but with contours sometimes not so easy.

Yes, it is better to have the trash up high, I remember the old snapping roll days on pickers for example, but devastators are better than a chopping head. We had a Drago chopping head before and had a couple springs where the chopped stuff made a mat that kept soil wet.

I do hope you have row cleaners though, preferably the sharp cutting blade type.
