Western Illinois | Went through this several years ago. First, seed treatments will actually add size to the seed which can be compensated for by switching plates. Second, cold seed coming out of the box into 70-80 degree weather will cause them to be sticky which more graphite and talc will help. Third, if you have new plates they may not be worn enough.
If you grab a handful of seed and squeeze it and it sticks together somewhat then sticky seed. I had seeds sticking in new plates which were aftermarket and not sized correctly compared to Kinze plates.
There are days that you never forget, especially if it’s spent dumping boxes and chasing problems you can’t see. | |
