Subject: RE: RMA acceptable grain yield measurements

I am putting up a grain bin that will store corn from two separate fields. I do not have a good way to measure bushels going into it.
Is this acceptable?
Dump corn from the first field harvested.
Mark bin level and measure everything below mark for 1st field.
Finish filling with corn from 2nd field, while having corn hauled out of bin to market to make room for 2nd field.
Then when done harvesting, measure everything above mark plus corn hauled out and use that for yield on 2nd field.

Before I went through all that hassle, I would get a yield monitor and calibrate it correctly and report that way. You can always have a measurement taken to get your total bushels and just use x pct for each field. That would save a lot of work.

Take care
