East of Broken Bow | Semi trailers use one prong for the left turn signal
One prong for the right turn signal,
and another prong for the brake light.
Trailers use one prong for the left turn signal and left brake light
and another prong for the right turn signal and brake light.
Notice there is one less prong in the plug being used in a standard trailer light harness than what a semi uses. A semi uses a 3 wire setup (plus ground) and a regular trailer uses a 2 wire setup for brake lights and turn signals.
To convert to an RV or trailer plug, you need a box that sends the brake light signal to the left and right turn signal light circuits, without disrupting the blinking of the turn signal.
