Seaside is good for families with kids, and maybe with big kids who want to have some fun. Cannon Beach, Manzanita, Rockaway, are more for hanging out in a nice rental house and a few hours on the beach. Cannon Beach is a bit more protected from the wind, it can be cold and miserable even in the summer.
There may be some places in Gearhart, north of seaside.
