north central iowa
I would recommend to either use scourgauard 4kc or equivalent type injectable vaccine products that have rota, corona virus plus E.coli and clostridium now and two weeks later to the cows. A booster dose is given next year about two to three weeks prior to calving. If you don't do this then an oral product with these components needs to be given within 12 hours after the calf is born. Now as far as a pre-breeding shot for the cows for first time cows/heifers two doses should be give 5 and 2 or 4 and 2 weeks prior to breeding. The following year one dose can be given 2 to 3 weeks prior to breeding. Don't forget to vaccinate the bull. A product like Bovishield gold fpvl5 or a virashield 6 vl5 are the type of spectrum of vaccines needed. Some areas vary for other vaccines needed- your local vet should help you with that. Basics on vaccine timing is you want two weeks minimum between booster shots. After the second dose your antibody titer increases dramatically even within a week after the booster or second dose. Good luck!
