| Got a row of cedar trees on the property line with a neighbor, that I planted 2 years ago.
The property line has a 3-5% slope to the back of the property
Some of the trees, ironically on the high ground, aren't surviving. When I dig down, that ground is fairly wet (probably a wet pocket of mucky ground).
Was thinking of running a tile close to the trees to help drain that excessively wet soil. Only question is whether to make it a true French drain with gravel backfill, or simply put a 4" pipe and backfill with existing ground.
I know eventually the roots might overwhelm the tile and plug it, but the hope is to get the excess water removed and get the trees thriving. But will a French drain, drain too much water and dry out the trees.
Id like to make cedars work for privacy. | |
