Subject: RE: Plant spring wheat or wait?

Bow Island, Alberta
Research in southern Alberta the last few years has shown wheat yield are the best when seeded as early as possible. In the trials, they seeded wheat as soon as soil temperature was 1C (34F). One year that was as early as the beginning of March. It still went down to about 0F several weeks after seeding with no apparent crop injury. Typical wheat seeding would usually start mid April.
