Think about it. Please. Over the past 5 years the bin it and sell next year model was the best. We were in an uptrending market most of that time. Just in the past year have we been in a down trend. Now if you look at the past 10 years the results become more confusing and could possibly favor the fwd contracting guys. Maizeing Pete has posted some very good charts showing the adv of fwd selling working 8 out of 10 years or so. Maybe 7 out of 10 if you include the last couple years. Now the problem with that data is even though more years are favorable for fwd selling - in those years you were only picking up pennies/bu (.25-50). The years you would be wrong fwd selling you would be giving up dollars/bu.
