The hearing aids that "self program" themselves to your own hearing test are what you want. They have a hearing test you can do yourself, with an app on your phone or computer. Then it will program the aids according to the test. And they do help understanding others. I have had two different sets. I Hear Medical (think they where bought out, an maybe not in business since covid), and Lexie. you can sometimes find the lexie on ebay for around $200 or less. much higher on their website. Their are lots of others, just the two i have experience with. But highly recommend ones that program from a test. Most of these will program the aids using bluetooth. The higher end ones will let you hear the person on the phone through bluetooth, as well as stream music, but for a older person, might be too complicated to deal with.
