North Central Kansas | Dane G. Hansen grew up in Logan, KS. The son of Danish immigrants. From those humble beginnings he amassed an empire. Before he died he established the Dane G. Hansen Foundation to help fund scholarships for students in NW Kansas. NW Kansas Eastern edge being identified as four counties Republic, Cloud, Ottawa and Saline Counties on US 81 highway West to the Colorado State Line. Over the years through good stewardship the foundation has grown. Yesterday they announced the 2024 Dane G> Hansen scholarships. https://danehansenfoundation.org/northwest-kansas-students-win-hanse... $1,013,500 in scholarships for students going to Universities and technical schools. The hope is that some of those students will decide to return to NW Kansas.
In addition to the scholarships the foundation now gives each county in the NW Kansas region money each year to help with economic development.
My daughter and daughter in law both received the 4 year $10,000 scholarship when they went to college. My son got the 2 year $4,000 scholarship. If you live in NW Kansas and have kids make sure they check this out. It is well worth the time.
