I assume I could but the economies of that haven't been good. I have 2 machines that I did already and dollar wise I could just as well have bought new or a used one that was made that way.
Upgrading from knives to a helix head with carbide inserts would be significant work on a large, heavy 8" jointer. I do thank you for the thought.
