Rather than sell his mom’s place, why not refinance with another institution? Something is fishy. Is farm credit the only ag lender in Alabama?
You can't refinance anything if the original lender still has their name all over your assets and refuses to sign off.
When you sign your loan papers it's all in that 6-7 pages that everyone just initials and doesn't read. I don't think most borrowers understand how well protected a lender is if things go south. Then if you want to fight them you can pay for a lawyer you can't afford because your money is locked up and possibly pay for their attorneys as well if you lose.
