southern Alberta | I live in same province as you. I have bought equipment with lien on it before. You can search for liens at local registry office or your banker can do it too. The seller needing $$ quick is not your problem, and a red flag to me. Deposit should of been written to both seller & lien holder for your protection. If deal falls through, good luck getting deposit back. You will want a letter from the lien holder stating they no longer have and interest is the listed equipment. I would search the VIN as it might have more liens on it than what was stated. Banks like to grab everything they can & not release it once debt is paid. Not a big issue, but you have to protect yourself, if you are not borrowing $$ from bank to buy things. | |
