What I do is hedge during the historically good times to do so for two crop years. Typically I try to be 60-80% hedged for a current crop year with Dec hedges and 20-30% Dec hedged for the next crop year by early/mid July. If the crop is looking good, I’ll put more hedges on as soon as I can since, as the chart shows, it falls off a cliff typically. | |
