| Just read my original, said that wrong calling it a hedge. It was basically getting the subsidy and works until down turn. I didn’t follow it a lot but was explanation from someone in the business.
Wonder cost buying LRP, selling call vs hedge. Both margin calls, locked price but subsidy.
I don’t do much of either. Locked 4 loads of July/August calves in with LRP but didn’t any bought this fall. Thinking may do some short policies on spring bought cattle but idk yet. I’d like to think we have 2 years of a bullish market with dips but I remember ‘15. I’m gonna tatoo buy back on my hand so I don’t freeze this go around on the down. | |
