I don't know exactly where your picture is but there is a section around Aberdeen call the "Black Belt Prairie" that is excellent farmland. There is an "arm" of that soil that runs north up the western side of Tupelo all the way into the west side of Prentiss County. In fact, that section of Prentiss County is referred to as "Blackland." Some of the largest farms in Prentiss County used to be in Blackland and Twenty-mile Creek Bottom.
