Most mass-market “leather” upholstered furniture is actual leather only on “contact” surfaces. The surfaces such as the cushion sides, sofa backs and sides will be a leather bond product not real leather. Where the two materials are joined (especially the cushions) the bonded material will start to break down within 5 years. Make sure you ask the right questions of the salespeople, and make sure they are actually answering the question you asked!
