Pittsburg, Kansas | Back when I was a kid dad was combining soybeans for a neighbor and distant relative. Dad told him the beans were probably not paying the combine bill. Bill Dietz had been figuring with a pencil on the bottom of his shoe (flexible guy he was) and said keep combining. Dad had a custom job that way and made some money in a poor year and the beans were still barely covering the harvesting bill.
First and last time I ever saw someone figure on the bottom of their shoe while still wearing it.
