There was a guy that owned a total of 80 acres in northern Iowa but rented hog buildings in 3 different counties. He custom fed hogs and cattle for investors and led them to believe that his brothers and cousins land was his and he was doing them a favor by letting them by buying overpriced feeder pigs from him then pay him a huge yardage fee.He sold the same 25,000 pigs a year to several different people but when it was time to sell them they either got sick or stolen.Sometimes he told them he was going to buy the gilts for replacements then would be slow paying for them .If two doctors wouldn't have crossed paths and both talked about the pigs they had on feed and realized it was the same farm and the same bills he might have gone a few more years.
Another time a feed dealer was custom feeding pigs and had charged the investor for feed for his own pigs
