Medicine Mound,TX | I have planted winter wheat in early February, and it worked. I have also planted it an it didn't vernalize, and just grew vegetative in spring. You are probably pushing the envelope, and if you want it to be a cash crop and not cover, I would switch to oats or spring wheat. I think it was more common back in the day to plant late wheat, if you talk to old timers. Maybe the varieties where different. Tricky part is to get it up in time and still have enough cold to vernalize. | |
