| A close below $4.00 futures will be cathartic.
I think it was 2016 we had a lot of corn getting piled in our area, it was wet, and prices were down. Took 3 hours per truck to pile dump at the elevator to get a grain check with a 2 in front of it after the drying and shrink was taken out. We were just finishing up and were out of storage room on the farm, didn't want to wait in town to pile dump, we have a series of old 3 and 4k bushel bins with no center sump/no air/no takeout that we never ever use so I overdried and cooled the last of the corn, loaded it into those bins and said I'm not taking it out until I get $7. Wife laughed at me, "that'll be the day" because at the time nobody believed it was ever going back. Got the check for $7 even and hardly any spoilage except for just tiny bit along the edge of the bin floor. | |
