NE Iowa | I am in NE Iowa and I like to plant oats and alfalfa early. Lots of years it is the last week of March. I am usually the first one in the neighborhood to plant. This is probably the third year in the 40 years I can remember when the ground wax fit to plant in February. On those years I have waited until March 15th to plant. Lots of late April freezes to want to go any sooner. I have had plenty of oats snowed on and it is pretty tough but February is a bit too early for even me. | |
