Subject: Sprayer add on 4730

Holly Hill, SC
Wanted to share some add on to an older JD 4730 sprayer that have been very handy thru the years.
1. Fence row nozzle mounted on the right side of the sprayer to be able to spray the edges of fields while driving along the side of them. (late season morning glories along the outer edges of corn fields) This solenoid gets solution from a 1" tee added between the 1" hose from the pump to the 1" valve that controls the Eductor valve. You set the pressure by using the "off pressure" setting on the monitor. This solution will not go thru a strainer or flow meters. Run power for the solenoid from the accessory power strip and install a simple toggle switch in one of the blanks on the arm rest. I also installed a small buzzer in this wiring to remind me that it is on.
2. Solution pressure indicator prior to the main strainers. This gives the operator an indication of when the main strainer may be clogged. This is a small 1/4" line that runs from the solenoid indicated on #1. It could be run from the tee added at the Eductor valve. Do no use any of the return lines or agitation lines for the pressure indicator. The 1/4" line is mounted on a rail front right of cab. I filled the 1/4" line with glycerine to isolate the pressure gauge from any fertilizer or harsh chemicals.
3. Install a valve at the end of the boom valve manifold to flush out manifold and empty for freeze protection. This is a small tee and street ell located at the main pressure sensor. Install a valve and short hose.
4. If you done have them already, install fence nozzles to edge end of the boom. The wiring is located on the boom. Pick the ground and 12v switch wire and install a small simple solenoid. The wiring is in the armrest and labeled. Install a simple toggle switch.
5. If you use the inductor, change out the mpt/barb elbow that shoots in the center hole to a larger barb end. This really helps flow with dry flowable like atrazine. Also add a 3/8" line with valve as a rinse hose for the inductor. Helps clean all the sides off. (look at one of the photos of the inductor valves on the right side.

Anyone else have some items? Especially newer sprayers. I have heard that you can install your own fence nozzles on the 400R models?? Wiring is on the boom and buttons on the joy stick will work once a setting is changed in the monitor.
