Leesburg, Ohio | Saying "dicamba was banned" IS NOT TRUE!
What actually happened is this: The EPA removed approval of all labels for the specific formulations of dicamba used on the new dicamba tolerant soybeans (and I think cotton).
So that means the new dicamba formulations known as "Engenia" "Extendimax" and a couple others that were labelled for use on dicamba tolerant crops can no longer be sold or use anywhere in the USA.
You could say that those specific formulations were "banned" I suppose.
IT DOES NOT, I repeat NOT mean that all dicamba was "banned"!
Banvel and other long-time existing formulations still have valid labels, and can be used as they always have been used.
So, using these older formulations for burndown ahead of corn or soybeans, early season use on growing corn, or use on pastures or non-crop areas is still approved.
Claiming that all dicamba is "banned" is wrong and irresponsible.
The "chatter" you hear is probably mostly like the trolls on this site that always just want to stir the pot. | |
