East Central Mississippi | I know there have been a lot of numbers thrown around as to what the low number for corn will be, but if we look at it without too much emotion, what is a real possibility? $3.50 corn would equate into roughly $9.00 soybeans. Cotton is smoking hot and ripping higher, and is taking acres from corn in a big kind of way in some places. China is buying cotton big time over the last month, and what does this say about their economy? Are they buying up reserves or is there actually a demand that’s not being talked about? Have they fooled us again? What is the future of ethanol? What will it look like in 10 years? Do cattle start taking some marginal acres back that were lost to 6-8 dollar corn farming?
I’m not trying to pick a low as such but rather promote a reasonable conversation about our current situation. Thanks and wishing you all a good year. | |
