When you roll a basis contract into carry, don’t you have to eat that carry?
But currently the March/May spread has narrowed to around 3 cents. I’m in pretty much the same situation as Dan (original poster) So I’m watching this post for thoughts as well. 3 cents is a very negligible amount.
We didn't roll today IF we get a couple up days it "should" get narrower --
I don't like to wait till the last days --we have 10+ trading days before have to get out of the March
was better to lock in the near by "March" than the May when delivered in January
Best I remember has been running 10-12 cents
To Lynryd skynryd (Love the music) the "carry" doesn't taste very good but eating 2 cents is "less filling" than 10 :-)
