From the statements we have been taking, more inventory than normal on corn on the average, about normal on beans. Unfortunately I am undersold corn too.


The reason I ask is that the grain buyer tried to get me to put harvest overrun bushels on a basis contract against the July board. She said that a lot of bushels were being put on that contract. Recently said that "not a lot have been sold"

Now, I assume that a farmer with those unpriced bushels would include them on their balance sheet in some way or another. But that doesn't mean those bushels still physically exist. They could have been shipped and consumed months ago. Just because the farmer includes them on his balance sheet does not necessarily mean they are "on-hand".

Maybe there aren't enough bushels like that to matter much anyway.
