That's a dealer specific question. I can't see where you're from or what dealer you use.

My dealer said they plan to keep their bases going about 10 more years, but that's always subject to the number of customers still paying. And really, as long as it's working properly, they have someone willing to host, the FCC license stays current and it doesn't get struck by lightning, it isn't costing the dealer much to keep it going.
While I do think the idea of 5 years repeatable service by sat is needed for some, I just don't see all my neighbors dropping a $1800/yr for all receivers you own plan for one that's $1500 for each individual receiver.
