Wisconsin
problem is that for solar electricity to be competitive with grid, it has to be installed in large blocks, done efficiently and produce without interruption for ten years or so. Batteries are only starting to be installed for grid storage, they're still quite expensive. A lift station isn't competing with grid power, but more with diesel or propane power so it can be more expensive power, but if you only need the power very intermittently, the power supply gets extremely expensive compared to propane or diesel that might run for a week straight and then intermittently for another couple months the fuel is not that significant vs the installed cost of solar.

Solar might have an advantage on small sites where diesel or propane aren't practical for a size match, but you can get hondas or even diesels down to a few HP, and they could be run at less than full power also.
