Subject: RE: John deere DATA SYNC

What they used to call Data Sync was simply wireless data transfer, having the work data from the display send to the Ops Center automatically. But nothing classified as Setup transferred (only Client/Farm/Field because it was attached to the work data). So products, tank mixes, boundaries, flags, guidance didn't send automatically, it could be pushed wirelessly by pressing some buttons or moved with a USB.

Data Sync Setup is like a cloud base for all setup data. Depending on the way the rules are set in the Ops Center, products, boundaries, flags and guidance can be constantly synced with the Ops Center. The initial sync will take anything in the Ops Center and send it to the displays. Anything on the displays that is not in the Ops Center is sent to archive. After the initial sync, it just follows the rules you have set in preferences. A note on those preferences is they don't work both ways. So putting guidance line to archive, doesn't stop the sync, it archives any lines made on the display that don't exist in the Ops Center. This can be great if you have a very clean, complete list in the Ops Center of all your data. But can be frustrating when you make a line, then switch to a different line and try to switch back only to find it's gone. Then someone has to go into archive and make it available again. What has been working best is setting all things to available and if you get a lot of lines you don't want or products, going in on the Ops Center and archiving them.

Once setup, anything you change on a display or in the Ops Center syncs with all enabled displays. If you want a certain machine excluded, just don't enable that one and continue to use Setup Files. Variety Locator was added before fall and it's expected Autopath files will be added soon. They added a safe guard during an update that fields can no longer be deleted from the display once enrolled in the feature, that way an operator can't accidentally wipe out your whole Ops Center. Also the first step in doing a display reset in File Manager is to disable Setup Sync on that display so when it boots back up without data, it doesn't sync that. If you do wipe a display and want it turned back on, you'll have to do that from the Ops Center.

And it's fast. We did live walkthroughs at clinics last year and you can make a change on the Ops Center and within seconds it's on the display. If a change is made on the display, you do need to refresh your browser on the Ops Center like if you're in the Land tool to see the changes. It's well worth cleaning up your Ops Center and then turning on. Just a few items like Equipment profiles and Autopath to add and we'll never make setup files again.

I made a video walking through most of the features found here: https://youtu.be/7WbqJmxKb90?si=v3wSV5Q4uEHg7pDp
