I'm guessing that the tractor had a 3306 in it - - - its a good engine but not up to putting all the jam out the front end of the crank.

Look at the pics again. That tractor has a 903.
The 903 was an ok truck engine but for something where you needed pull down torque - - - they just didn't long term cut it.
Also wouldn't be an original, aiui, steiger didn't run 903s, 3306 3406 cats, 855 cummins, there was a v8 cat in the tiger (as an option - - - I think) and the cummins kta1150 for the 470.
Can't remember what was in the Bearcat 225.
Earlier models (before the one pictured) had detroits - - - don't know enough about those.
The very earliest models - - - I only know that they existed - - - not much about them!
