MN | When looking at purchasing short line equipment, I first of course look at the equipment, then I see what the local dealer sells in quantity- If they have 30 of the same model sold in the area, they are going to have some parts on hand- I don't want to buy a unicorn that no one has parts for- next if I want to buy something that isn't real common- I try to buy something that is made somewhat local- you can get parts in a day regular ground- most short line companies don't offer free freight for parts for their dealers- so if they can ship Speedee for cheaper freight and get it within a day- When I was looking at a hydra-push spreader- ended up with a Kuhn 2054- Hagedorn might have gotten my business but the parts coming out of Canada was a deal breaker- H&S was my second choice- I liked Pikrite but no dealer close and the plant is out east- | |
