Subject: RE: Balancer bulls

Central Iowa
You are correct, Balancer's are a cross of Gelbvieh and Angus or Red Angus. They must be at least 25% Gelbvieh to be considered a Balancer. If you want to keep your black hided calves, if you are looking at Balancer bulls, make sure they are Homozygous black. Otherwise you could get some red calves if your cows carry a red gene.

Cib's Gelbvieh and Balancers in central Iowa has a great selection of homozygous black Balancer and Gelbvieh bulls. Bulls are grown in large paddocks and not in feedlots so the bulls have longevity and know how to work. Opening day sale is March 2nd this year. Bulls will have base prices ahead of the sale. Check out their selection at www.cibsgelbvieh.com
