Blend them?

Here I've planted a 3-way blend of oats, barley and wheat ("succotash"). The three together are supposed to produce a higher forage yield due to competition than any one sewn alone.

My experience was with chopping it for dairy cows and replacements. I also believe it was more palatable than pure oat silage.

I believe that your palatability would be very much related to the actual stage of plant(s) at harvest.
