Ft. Ripley MN | Have a highline 651 with the feed chopper… I can get close to what a tub grinder will do. I’m a big proponent of doing everything in house and I can use the bale processor to grind hay and bed cattle…. I think ton for ton hiring a tub grinder is cheaper….
Your average bale processor… nope it’s not gonna come close to a tub grinder unless you get one that can chop it fine. I bought the machine I did because the neighbor had one! Plenty of other guys in the area that process their hay with a regular bale processor but they all have verticals. I had a reel auggie mixer when I bought my bale processor… I have a vertical now. We aren’t a big enough operation to own a tub grinder yet so it works….
