If you mount elsewhere, remember that the angle to the ground needs to be consistent and not change when the drill is lowered or raised as this will change the indicated speed. This would affect the area count as well. I'm assuming you are going to mount a few seed sensors on some of the drill seed tubes.

Since this is for a grain drill, the population shown is not accurate anyway and you are probably just concerned that seed is being delivered to those tubes where you have mounted the sensors. I assume your goal is to have the system alert you if seed is not being delivered due to lack of seed or a malfunction. If so then the speed and area being somewhat incorrect may not be a concern.
