Subject: RE: Dodge Caravan- Wheelchair in back?

East of Broken Bow
My brother is in a wheelchair, and a ramp to the side door is by far the best way for occasional rides. My dad has a Caravan with removable captain's chairs in the middle. What seems to work the best is to remove one of the captain's chairs, get him in any way we can (sometimes that is using a portable ramp - doesn't take much if you park next to a curb) and then move him to the other captain's chair. Other times, it is easier to park his chair next to the door with the Captain's chair, and help him into the captain's chair directly. (van has double sliding doors) He is not totally immobilized, and can help us move him which helps a lot.
We have seen kits that would anchor his chair to the existing anchors that held the seat in place so he could stay in his chair with a seat belt, but so far have not found that necessary. The armrests on the captain's chair as well as his wheelchair fold up (or at least one on his wheelchair does) so we can just slide him over to the captain's chair and buckle him in.
