Subject: Feeding & Storing Baleage - Bred Beef Cows

Just recently bought some baleage to feed my bred cows. It’s second cutting grass that was baled and wrapped in a tube. I’m not familiar with baleage so wanted to double check before I start feeding it. I went in hoping to buy dry hay, but the 2nd cutting available was all wrapped in the tube.

It smells good, but I am not familiar with the risks of feeding and storing it. Is there anything I should be concerned about or watch for? Is storing it outside unprotected, okay now that the bales have been broken from the main tube and are now not fully wrapped. Does it start to spoil now that it was exposed to the air?

Just not sure how all that works, so I’m looking for some teaching.. I am just hoping I didn’t make a mistake in buying it.
