| Cows will use snow to extent, if it's soft as they won't come into water everyday. As it can be 2-3 mile walk to water. Cows can get in trouble real fast if snow turns rock hard and doesn't soften in afternoon. One because they won't travel to water because of sore feet, then snow too hard to eat. Then they stay area and only eat brush. That's the key to teach young operators how to monitor snow, temps. and grazing patterns. Have to make the call to pull cows and get them on feed before real trouble starts. | |
