Subject: RE: advice with a heifer calf

south west iowa
The grass is getting short, it has been good up intel the last couple of weeks. We have owned the pasture since 1972 i think and has always been a good pasture. Been feeding the cows every day a mix of corn, dry distiller from the E plant, soybean hull pellets, corn gluten pellets with a pelleted mineral balancer. Some of the bigger calves get in there and eat with the cows. The calves have been on a creep feed with ground corn and a RangerĀ® Limiter pellet we get from our coop. The wife is gone right now and i don't know where she keeps the feed tickets for the tag. It took forever to eat the first 3 ton but had grate grass at that time. But they are eating more of it now as the grass is ending. They have water in a creak. and a cobett water that is on rural water line that they have been drinking out of most of the time as it is right by the feeder and feed bunks. We are going to take her temp today and may give her some meds as she has a slight wheeze today. but she is not full today yet.
