Subject: Soaking corn for fattening

SW Ohio
I have a few black heifers I am fattening out for freezer beef. They are 800 plus pounds and I have them on free choice hay and full grain ration. 2/3 cracked corn and 1/3 gluten with a balancer pellet. I was cleaning up under the dryer and under the wet bin. One bucket was full of wet whole corn. I dumped 1/2 bucket on top of their regular feed and they really went after it. Is there something to soaking corn for cattle or was it just a different taste that they will briefly enjoy?
