I would say that it depends on what your concern is about eating large portions of these melons.
If you have diabetes, then over-eating on melons, which contain fructose, will definitely affect your blood sugar.
If you are overweight and concerned about calories, they do have calories and all those count up.
If you are bothered by getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, melons do contain significant fluid, so it may mean extra trips to the bathroom.
They are sources of fiber, vitamins and minerals- so good options for desserts and snacks as compared to other sugary and salty options.
They are certainly the tastiest in the summer when they are fresh and home grown. If diabetes and weight control are not issues, I'd say enjoy them while they're in season.
