Subject: RE: nh3 - auto shut off systems

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
Most any Spray Controller can handle NH3 with a proper heat exchanger and valves that are suitable for the product.

In our area (Corn Country) about 99% of the rigs have a single ON/OFF valve although a few have provisons for shutting ON/OFF each "half". On a Raven Accu-flow system a small portion of the NH3 is fed back into the heat exchanger for the refrigerant effect. This may require using another Master valve ahead of the section valves.

Thus a bar with two halves may need three ON/OFF valves. The refrigerant feed line is tee'd off between the Master ON/OFF valve and the section valves. The Master valve is wired to be ON when one or more section valves are ON. There are several ways to do this. A simple plan is to create a Master Enable line by using a diode in each section line and tying the diodes output's together. This makes an "OR" gate so that this new line is ON only when at least one of the section lines is ON.

The cost of Six or Seven On/Off valves along with the complexity of the plumbing (Manifolds, hose etc.) would make your setup quite expensive. Splitting into fewer sections would reduce the cost considerably.
