We couldn’t get any portable units to last for more than 2 or 3 years either.
Finally broke down and bought an Aprilaire 1830 (E80 I think now) and hooked it to the cold air return in the basement. They are expensive, but this unit is going on 6 years now and never had an issue. I can get parts and repair/recharge it myself if it goes down.
Dehumidifier for the basement.?
