Use dawn trash whippers on the front of your units to push aside the top dry dirt getting you closer to the moisture below without planting that deep. I've planted sweet corn in June a few times and this saves the day.
We have done this with good success, but you do run the risk of a heavy rain washing the furrow in. If you're going to plow dry dirt out out of the way, probably wouldn't go deeper than 2.25". |
