South Central Illinois | Yes there is an automotive ball joint,
Fits underneath the end flex sheet,
It is probably the most common failure point,
Once it fails everything else starts to shake,
Kinda like a torsion bar.
jdparts.com is about as good as it gets for an exploded view.
